Tri-Spark coils have extra windings using heavier wire and a high grade core for improved spark energy and duration.
Warning - These coils discharge with a very high voltage so extra care must be taken to always have a spark plug connected to the HT output.
This coil suits two spark plugs per cylinder installation in combination with the Tri-Spark Classic Twin ignition system.
Primary resistance 1.8 Ohms.
HT leads 60cm long included - Spark plug caps sold separately. Spark Plug Caps, two caps per coil required.
Mounting hole spacing is 90mm.
They do not have a negative or positive primary terminal, you can wire them either way.
Suitable for use with ELA00061 Compass Ignition for BMW Dual Plug Heads 1970 - 1979 (two required)
Can be used on a 1968 BMW R69 in place of the magneto - still using the standard points and condenser.
Tri-Spark say: "One of our customers found a new use for our 6-Volt Dual Lead Ignition Coil on his 1968 BMW R69. He used it in place of the magneto - still using the standard points and condenser.
For the first time in years he can now kickstart the bike easily. He is happy that the bike now runs much better at all revs.
The points connection to magneto was disconnected with the magneto coil removed and the rotor still in place. He mounted the coil on the frame under the tank."
