The mirrors on these models are expensive new and difficult to source second-hand. Save yourself the hassle and fit these safety wires.
These coated stainless steel safety wires will protect you from expensive repairs. The K1100RS, K1100LT, K1200LT and R1200RT mirrors up to 09/2009 are push-fitted rather than bolted on, so that they fall off in the event of an impact.
In such a case the mirrors are only held on by the indicator cables, which are often unequal to the task, and just snap. The mirrors will then fall to the ground.
The consequence will be a badly-scratched housing, and often also a completely destroyed mirror - a very expensive repair.
Wunderlich's safety wires are made of plastic-coated stainless steel, can simply be bolted on, and disappear into the empty space between mirrors and fairing.
