This starter motor is original fitment on the later 2 valve twins, but will fit all models 1975 onwards. It is lighter (2.74kg compared to 4.46kg) and turns the engine quicker than the Bosch type. This is to replace 9 tooth starter motors. 

As of 2022, this starter motor is now produced by Valeo with 10 teeth due to production changes, but the functionality is still the same. The body of the starter motor is also slightly longer than before but this doesn't affect fitment. 

Please note: the magnets on these starters are no longer glued in place. They are now clipped in position, offering far greater reliability than previously.
